A&T Teams with Company for Drinking Water TestingFor Immediate Release Greensboro, NC: North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and Technology International, Inc. are working together to analyze methods of removing contaminants from drinking water. Under the direction of Dr. Mohamed Ahmedna, A&T students will examine drinking water collected from taps in Greensboro. Drinking water samples will be tested for metals from pipe corrosion and chlorination byproducts according to EPA methods. Commercial adsorbents, such as activated carbon and ion exchange resins, will then be used to remove target contaminants from the water. The study will give our students exposure to the testing of drinking water, said Ahmedna, an assistant professor of food chemistry and biochemistry in A&Ts School of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. In addition, we anticipate that it will provide baseline data for future studies involving drinking water. Technology International, Inc.
