Greensboro, NC: The Council for Accreditation of the American Association of Family
and Consumer Sciences (AAHEFS) granted accreditation to the Department of Human Environment
and Family Sciences of the North Carolina A&T State University during its fall 1996
meeting. This is the second time the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences
has been awarded the status of "accredited" by AAHEFS, and it is one of only 64
AAHEFS units across the nation to be recognized in this way.
The family and consumer sciences accreditation program focuses on the quality of education
offered in postsecondary units which prepare professionals for contemporary practice.
Joyce Crouse, Chair of the Council for Accreditation for AAHEFS, congratulated Dr. Rosa
Purcell, chairperson of A&T's Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, in
a recent letter. "On behalf of the Council for Accreditation, we are especially
pleased to recognize the quality of the faculty and programs of this family and consumer
sciences program."
