Turner to Lead Ag Research ProgramFor Immediate Release Greensboro, NC: Dr. Carolyn Turner has been appointed Associate Dean for Research in the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. In this position, Turner will oversee the universitys Agricultural Research Program, which includes more than 20 projects with budgets totaling nearly $3 million. Funded projects range from the identification and eradication of foodborne pathogens to water quality issues. The work done in the A&T Agricultural Research Program directly impacts the citizens of North Carolina, as well as the rest of the world, said Turner. We will continue to build upon the strengths of our researchers and to explore collaborative opportunities which will allow us to be responsive to the pressing needs of todays agriculture and society as a whole. Turner has been a housing researcher at A&T since 1982. Her recent research has focused on energy efficiency in manufactured housing. In this regard, she leads the Manufactured Housing Research Initiative of A&Ts Center for Energy Research and Technology, a multi-disciplinary effort involving A&Ts School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, School of Business, College of Engineering, and the School of Technology. She also recently co-authored "Housing Decisions, a 543-page textbook used in secondary schools, and has been appointed to the State Energy Advisory Board by U.S. Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson.
