McKinnie to Lead
A&T Cooperative Extension Program For Immediate Release Greensboro, NC: Dr. M. Ray McKinnie has been named associate dean for the Cooperative Extension Program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He replaces Dr. Dalton McAfee, who will remain with A&T Cooperative Extension Program in the area of community development. As associate dean for Cooperative Extension, McKinnie will oversee the extension activities of the A&T School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, including campus-based faculty and field staff in several North Carolina counties. The A&T Cooperative Extension Program works collaboratively with A&Ts Agricultural Research Program to address the states farm and environmental issues. Since 1980, McKinnie has served as the animal science specialist for the A&T Cooperative Extension Program, focusing efforts on swine, rabbit and meat goat production for small-scale farmers. For the past four years, McKinnie has been responsible for coordinating A&Ts federal facilities program and for leadership to the Universitys Farm Complex. McKinnie is a native of Wayne County, and an A&T alumnus with degrees from The Ohio State University and North Carolina State University. He was recently appointed by administrators from the nations 16 predominantly black land-grant institutions to the advisory council for the National Extension Leadership Development Program. McKinnie was also an invited speaker at the Second National Small Farms Conference in St. Louis, and serves as the chairperson for the Minority Issues Committee for the Southern Section of the American Society of Animal Scientists.
