K-3 rd Grade Youth Development Program

 

Program Description:

The North Carolina K-3 rd Grade Youth Program uses a multi-state, interdisciplinary curriculum to promote developmentally appropriate, cooperative, and experiential learning which accelerates life-skill development and positive self-images.

 

Target audience:

Youth 5 to 8 years of age, their parents, older teens and other volunteers

 

Goals and Objectives:

Children will:

1. develop life-skills in social interaction, decision-making, health and physical fitness, and self-awareness,

2. gain age-appropriate knowledge and learning experiences through curricula designed around the 4-H experiential learning model, and

3. engage in activities that strengthen positive interactions with their parents and other adults

 

Parents/Partners will:

1. develop skills in planning, implementing and evaluating age-appropriate learning experiences for children 5 to 8, and

2. increase and strengthen positive interactions with children as they make learning a cooperative activity
