Programs for People

Several of North Carolina A&T Extension's programs have gained regional, national and international recognition for their success in addressing the critical needs of individuals, families and communities with limited resources.  Among the programs for which North Carolina A&T's Extension Program have gained recognition are:

Youth Development Programs

Down-to-Earth - using the scientific method to unlock young minds and help them understand sustainable agricultural productionK-3rd Grade Youth Development Program - reaching out to children 5-8 to help them become competent, caring and contributing citizens

Small Scale Agriculture

Dark Side of the Sun - providing farmers and farm workers information on the risks of skin cancer and other skin diseases caused by prolonged exposure to the sun

Environmental Intervention Program for Small-Scale and Limited-Resource Farmers in North Carolina - focusing on the development and implementation of environmental intervention programs for the state's small-scale farmers.

The Farm Opportunities Program - delivering one-on-one, hands-on instruction in efforts to help small-scale and limited-resource farmers

Small Farmer Outreach Training and Technical Assistance Project - basic business management training for farmers with overextended credit and cash-flow problems

Ways to Grow - helping small-scale farmers explore alternatives to traditional crops and livestock enterprises

Becoming a Mother: Keeping in Touch With You - a program for pregnant and parenting adolescents

Money Solutions at Your Finger Tips – Financial Calculators - Get help with these decisions and others by using these financial calculators. They’ll help you look at what each decision will mean to you in dollars and cents, before you make it.

Community Voices - empowering communities by developing untapped leadership potential

Share Yourself - Share Yourself is a community volunteer program that matches volunteer coaches with Work First participants.

Victim's Assistance Program - connecting crime victims in low-income areas with support services
