  • Macroeconomic analysis: analysis of output, employment, incomes and other economic activities in the aggregate
  • Microeconomic Analysis: analysis of individual decision units (people, firms, or markets) within the economy
  • Statistical Analysis: Quantitative and econometric analyses of data pertaining to food, agricultural and environmental problems
  • Consumer Behavior: analysis of the marketing behavior of people in meeting their desire for goods and services
  • Food Safety – behavioral and economic analysis of the food safety attitudes, perceptions, awareness and knowledge of persons and their interrelationships to food safety behavior and foodborne illnesses
  • Farm and Occupational Safety – the principles of farm safety, accident prevention, and standards of occupational safety
  • Agromedicine: research, education, outreach and extension in occupational, community and environmental health and safety in agriculture, forestry and fisheries
  • Emerging Technologies – an analysis of the impact of emerging technologies (i.e. computer, biotechnology, etc) on the food and agricultural industries
  • Agricultural Policy – analysis of public policies developed to achieve specific objectives desired for agriculture
  • Environmental Policy – analysis of public policies developed to achieved specific objectives to protect and sustain the environment
  • Entrepreneurship – organizing resources to produce and market goods and services
  • International Trade: analysis of transactions with foreign nations in which goods and services are bought and sold
  • Rural development: a process or programs and policies carried out that have the explicit objective of improving the quality of life in rural and/or nonmetropolitan areas
  • Needs Assessment: large scale surveys of large samples of persons asking them about perceptions of the major problems facing the community or state
  • Social Impact Assessment – predicting the consequences of a development prior to its occurrence
  • Social Indicators Research – an analysis of aggregated indicators of the "health" of society (i.e. infant mortality rate, morbidity rate, poverty rate, per capita income, etc)
  • Survey Research – administration of questionnaires and interviews to a sample of respondents selected from some population
  • Agriscience Education: leadership for school-based and industry-based education efforts related to the food, fiber, environmental and related system
