This is my ninth year at North Carolina A&T where I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects as well as teaching courses in farm management and computer application (AgEcon 332, AgEcon 240, & AgEcon 675).

I came to NC A&T after an extensive career in international development in West Africa where I served in many capacities. My tenure in Africa began as a Peace Corps Volunteer and approximately fifteen years later I was still working on the African continent. My last position in Africa was in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania where I served as Associate Peace Corps Director for Agriculture.

In addition to my teaching responsibilities at NC A&T, a large portion of my work is concentrated on a farm safety project. Because farming is the number industry in North Carolina, a farm safety project can have a beneficial impact in the state. This project gives me the opportunity to travel extensively in the state to conduct safety training and complete research. The success of the farm safety project has prompted NC A&T's entry into collaboration with NC State and East Carolina University for an Agromedicine Project.

Because a large part of my responsibilities deals with computers, I am also actively participating in another project that has provided computers for the laboratory and training for faculty and staff.

I have not forgotten my international experiences, as I continue to work with international students and have attended international student conferences for the past five years. Also, I actively recruit for the US Peace Corps on campus and maintain a information booth. Furthermore, I am preparing an application for the US Peace Corps' Masters International Program to become part of the School of Agriculture. I also serve on the steering committee for the International Trade Center in the School of Agriculture.

For one summer, I served in a faculty exchange program with the Foreign Agriculture Service where I worked as an analyst in the Trade and Economic Information Exchange (TEID) Division which conducts country risk analysis for the GSM (General Sales Manager) export credit guarantee program. My responsibilities included completing country background investigations and complying country profiles for the target counties; preparing country risk profiles and assigning a country risk grade used to identify potential debt problems. Based on TEID's economic models also, I assigned a risk exposure guideline for the country being analyzed.
