Kim Berry is a
sociologist with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Services Social Sciences
Institute (SSI). SSI is charged with integrating human and economic concerns in natural
resource management through research, training, and technology transfer. Prior to this
position, Berry worked in the national office located in Washington, D.C. in the Office of
Public Affairs. She has work experience in the areas of internal and external agricultural
communications, marketing, and team building. Her primary responsibilities are to provide technical training and assistance on the importance of understanding individuals behaviors, needs, and attitudes toward natural resource management to field staffs so they can become more efficient in increasing adoption of conservation practices. She has in depth knowledge in outreach strategies to non-traditional groups, survey development, and alternative dispute resolution. Berry has represented the agency on international, national, state, and local levels. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Public Communication/Sociology from The American University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism/History from Howard University.
