On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Department of Agribusiness, Applied Economics, and Agriscience Education it is my sincere pleasure to welcome you to our department. As an associate professor of agricultural education it is my responsibility to prepare our world’s future agricultural leaders in order that mankind may maintain a safe and plentiful food supply, as well as a clean environment. Students who successfully complete the Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Education are prepared for careers in teaching, supervision in schools and colleges, agricultural extension, agricultural-related firms and industries, trade and professional associations, government and private research firms, government services, as well as for further study for higher degrees.

Agricultural Education at North Carolina A&T State University at the undergraduate level is composed primarily of two major options, the secondary education track (teaching track) and the agricultural professional service track (non-teaching track). Students pursuing the Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Education take a variety of courses in general education, professional education, agricultural education, as well as technical agricultural (animal science, plant and soil science, horticulture, agricultural economics, agricultural engineering). In addition to the above core areas students enrolled in the professional licensure track are expected to complete a second major concentration in the areas of agricultural science, animal science, agricultural business and marketing, agricultural communications, natural and environmental science, plant and soil science, and rural sociology.

Students pursuing the Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Education receive advanced training in agricultural education with specific courses in the areas of research, program planning and evaluation, special populations/diversity, agricultural governmental policy, history and philosohphy of education, curriculum integration, adult education, in addition to a wide array of other agricultural science subject matter. The master’s program in agricultural education is composed of two study tracks Agricutlural Professional Licensure and Agricultural Professional Service.
