Mushroom facility gets organic affirmation

Dr. Omon Isikhuemhen has received word (and a certificate) from Clemson University’s organic certification program that the Mushroom Biology & Fungal Biotechnolgy Laboratory at the University Farm is now in full compliance with standards for organic certification. Spawn and substrate produced at this facility and distributed to farmers through a USDA grant to the International Trade Center and other programs are now certified organic, and farmers will be able to sell mushrooms produced with the supplies for the premium prices that certification commands.
