HBCU conference headed to GSO
A White House Initiative to give more support to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) was initiated by President Jimmy Carter in 1980, and it includes an annual workshop at which federal agencies present not only some frequently overlooked funding programs for HBCUs, but also the intra-agency nuances of applying for grants and funding. The 2006 Technical Assistance Federal Funding Opportunities Workshop for faculty and staff from HBCUs is going to be especially convenient for SAES teaching, research and Extension faculty. The workshop will be at the Greensboro Marriott Downtown Nov. 16-17. It also promises to be especially relevant for the SAES faculty. Among the federal agencies already committed are the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Department of Commerce and USDA. Early bird registrations, received before Oct. 31, are only $125 for the two-day conference.
