Greensboro to Goldsboro

The Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) near Goldsboro is celebrating its 10th anniversary with an open-to-the-public fall festival on Saturday, Sept. 16, and the SAES is one of the sponsors.  From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. there will be entertainment, music, and refreshments in addition to tours of CEFS facilities and research demonstrations. The CEFS is located on 2,200 acres of land, and is operated jointly by the SAES, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at N.C. State, and the N.C. Department of Agriculture & Consumer Sciences. Its research units include a Small Farm Center as well as swine, dairy, organic cropping, farm systems and pasture-based beef units.
