Mad cow microeconomics
Dr. Osei-Agyeman Yeboah, director of the SAES International Trade Center, presented a paper he and two research assistants worked on at the Southern Extension and Research Activity group’s conference on bioterrorism and homeland security at Auburn University in mid-May. The paper topic was “Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) and the U.S. Beef Industry: Adjustments in a General Equilibrium Model.” Contributing to the paper were Victor Ofori-Boadu, a research associate, and Blessing Mandizha, who was a graduate research assistant at the time the paper was prepared. The Southern Extension Research Activity group is composed of economists working to illuminate natural resources and environmental issues.
