Mid-November proposal deadline
USDA's Southern Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program has two grant programs with Nov. 15 proposal deadlines: SARE producer grants are open to farmers or producer organizations in North Carolina and other Southeastern states, with maximums of $10,000 for individual farmers and $15,000 for producer organizations. Extension and Natural Resources Conservation Service personnel willing to work with at least one cooperating farmer are eligible to apply for SARE on-farm research grants of up to $15,000.
While all SARE proposals must promote agricultural practices that are profitable, and environmentally sound, these two programs also have a focus on projects that address the concerns of limited-resource farmers, organic production, economic development or women in agriculture. SARE accepts proposals only through its online submission form at http://www.southernsare.org.
