All's Fair

The North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh is Oct. 14-23, and the SAES will have a booth staffed by faculty, students, staff and alumni from 9 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. each day. The chores are pleasant: greeting visitors, and distributing giveaways and information about SAES academic programs. Marilyn Brewington of the Dean’s Office is signing up volunteers to work the SAES booth. Volunteers should be willing to commit five-to-eight hours on consecutive days. If you would like to work the booth with friends or colleagues, keep in mind that the staffing quota is at least three SAES volunteers at all times. If you’re interested, get your name on the volunteer list by contacting Brewington at marilyn@ncat.edu or 336.334.7979. (And if you’d like to do your duty at the SAES booth on a day when the special event or entertainment has personal appeal, check out the State Fair’s Web page at http://www.ncstatefair.org/2005/geninfo.htm to make plans.)

The SAES will be working in the Educational Building (booth # TBA). Even if you can’t find time to volunteer this year, be sure to stop by if you visit the fair. And if you can’t find time for so much as a leisurely visit to this year’s State Fair, don’t forget to mention the SAES booth when you run into someone who does have plans for a trip to the fair — especially high school students making their higher education plans.
