Webb Hall will be part of the national network of downlink sites at colleges and universities across the United States for the World Food Day Teleconference on Friday, Oct. 14, from noon until 3 p.m. This year's celebrity guest is Frances Moore Lappé, author of Diet for a Small Planet, one of the first books to analyze the causes of hunger and malnutrition in a political, social and global context. The teleconference will also feature the film "Silent Killer," which examines the problem of world hunger and some solutions for resolving it. Many nutrition and dietetics professionals attending the conference will be eligible for Continuing Education Units from the American Dietetic and the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences . For complete details on the World Food Day Teleconference, visit the program Web site at http://www.worldfooddayusa.org/CMS/2955.aspx.
There will be refreshments and a drawing for a free dinner at the teleconference on World Food Day. All SAES faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend, and also to bring along any friends or colleagues from other branches of the University who are interested in issues surrounding the global food supply. The Luther Street parking lot, east of Webb Hall, will be open for visitor parking during the World Food Day Teleconference.
