The deadline for early bird registration discounts for the 2009 eXtension national conference is Sept. 20. Registrations that come in before that cutoff will be $300, but those that come in before Sept. 20 will be $225.

The inaugural eXtension conference will be Oct. 20 to 23 in St. Louis. The conference agenda includes overviews of many of the “Communities of Practice” that are now the backbone of Cooperative Extension’s online interactive learning environment, and two of the breakout session tracks are devoted to starting and sustaining  “Communities of Practice.” Among the topics slated to be covered in individual breakout sessions are webinars, social media strategies and tools and technologies for establishing educational content for online programs.
