Saludadez, director of the Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services at the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOP) was in Greensboro in mid-March to put some finishing touches on a memorandum of understanding between the SAES and UPOP that was signed into existence in 2007.  One of the seven constituent institutions in the University of the Philippines system, UPOP joined universities in Vietnam and Indonesia in signing memorandums of understanding with the SAES in 2007.  Dr. Manuel Reyes is the PI for a $1.2 million agroforestry and sustainable vegetable production research project— (part of the Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resource Management Collaborative Research Support Program—SANREM CRSP—headquartered at Virginia Tech) that has set a considerable amount of groundwork for the memorandums of understanding with the southeast Asian universities, and Reyes sees some unique potential in the new partnership with UPOP: the university’s specialty is distance education. The SANREM CRSP Web site now has some interesting updates on Reyes’ agroforestry and sustainable vegetable production project. The Web site has details on a low-cost drip irrigation system in Bukidon, Philippines, that is similar to research demonstrations under way in Vietnam and Indonesia. The Web site also has photos and details on the visit by administrators from SAES’s southeast Asian partners to Greensboro in March of 2007.]]> http://www.ag.ncat.edu/agedispatch/2008/03/international-networking-infra.html http://www.ag.ncat.edu/agedispatch/2008/03/international-networking-infra.html Wed, 19 Mar 2008 16:25:00 -0500 Online learning conference still looking for in-line input - The Ag eDispatch documents iconThe call for paper and poster presentations for the 14th Sloan Consortium International Conference on Online Learning has been extended to April 30.
