• Served as President of the American Association of Housing Educators and President of the North Carolina Association of Family and Consumer Sciences
• Serves as Chair of the Board of the Advanced Energy Corporation
• Appointed by U.S. Secretary of Energy, Bill Richardson, to the State Energy Advisory Board (national board advising on energy efficient and renewable energy)
