Research Interests:

Dr. Allen is employed as a full-time research faculty member.  His research interests include:  the analysis and study of bacterial Fc receptors and the non-specific binding of mammalian immunoglobulins; The resistance of Gram-negative Bacteria to Beta-Lactam antibiotics: The emergence of Enterotoxigenic E. coli and their impact on swine production.

Outreach:

Dr. Allen acts as Graduate Student coordinator for the Department of Animal Sciences and in that regard is involved in the recruitment and development of graduate students.  Dr. Allen is also very involved in the State Science Fair program and is active in the Judging of Science Fairs at the school, city, regional and state science fairs.  High School students are recruited to work during the summers and develop their Science Fair projects in Departmental laboratories.
